The power source:
It had a reinforced clutch and, a self designed pipe and special cylinder head:
The test drive proved me right, lot`s of rpm and it feld just as fast as my good old gilardoni drag bike..
One week before the race, something happened...
A big disappointment, so i started with a new 50cc engine... I found a 50cc AJH cylinder which has become very rare. Just a few were sold and most of them died in the same way as my beloved k-star.
I allready had a proper frame with hydrolic front fork and cheap ass tires:
The first race was at Hierden, see the main page for more info. Since i haven`t driven a moped for years i was causious but had lots of fun.
back at Maximoto headquarters i ported the cylinder to get more rpm. Since i thought it wasn`t that interesting, i haven`t made pictures. The following race was Giessen, a horrible circuit but the Athena didn`t give a shit with more than 13.500rpm on the straight..
For a petrolhead like me i don`t really care about the looks, but as you can see above, after one year of testing it`s starting to look like a barnfind. Time to step up and build a new one for 2013. The Athena is fast for long circuits like Hierden, but at Giessen i miss low-end power so i need a new engine again. This time a 50cc TCCD cylinder:
Since the competition gets faster and faster, i cant leave it stock:
And last but not least, a sneak preview of the frame:
Yup, it has air-controlled front suspension and i will fit the Koni air-controlled rear shocks from my old racer.
It`s far from finished because i`m helping my competition with building their engines.. so fringers crossed to get finished in time!
